Things to remember as we return to class

Terms starts tomorrow, and we can’t wait to welcome students back to classes, albeit with some changes in line with the latest COVID regulations:

  • Parents will not be able to watch classes as we need to maintain as much social distancing as possible.
  • Please could the students aged over 11 wear masks to arrive and leave the studio, but not during class.
  • Please could everyone wear outdoor shoes to arrive (but that are easy to take off) and be dressed ready for class as there will be no changing facilities.
  • Bring a bottle of water as the water machine may not be used, plus some tissues.
  • Have a box to put shoes, bottle and tissues in to keep them all together.
  • Classes will all be 45 minutes long to give us time to clean in-between.
  • Please make sure your child arrives in laundered dance kit.
  • Could all little ones who are unable to tie shoelaces please have elastic threaded through so they can pull them on.

See you in class!

Latest situation with regards to coronavirus

Dear parents,

I have heard from the ISTD that examinations will not take place for the next 12 weeks, then exams will be either refunded or re-arranged. I would prefer to rearrange as the children and students have spent so long perfecting their movements, it seems a pity for them to miss out.

Also the dance festival in Torbay has been cancelled at present although they do wish to have it later in the year.

I am going to continue with lessons (not extra exam classes) until the schools are told to close, unless Keely, Lesann or myself are unwell. The barres are cleaned between classes and children are asked to wash hands after arriving and after sneezing etc. Obviously should anyone in your family be unwell then please self isolate.

These are my thoughts but if you would prefer to keep your child at home, then I respect your judgement in doing so.

Next term is due to start on April 18th but invoices will not be given out until we restart and we have a clearer idea of what is happening.

Please get in touch if you have any queries.

Regards and keep safe,
June Hornby

Imogen pirouettes off to Central School of Ballet

We always feel a bit emotional at this time of year, as members of our dance family fly the nest…

But we also get lots of opportunities to burst with pride. Here’s Imogen – who joined us aged two – and who’s just started her degree course at Central School of Ballet.
