Dear parents
Festivals
Firstly, may I congratulate all those who entered festivals this term, both regional final for All England, and local at Bournemouth.
Excellent result at both, with Sophie, Molly, Harry, Harrison and Mikey all going to the Finals in July, together with Sweet Chariot, our Modern group. Also Mikey, Harrison and Harry going on to the Dance World Cup finals in Portugal in July. We wish them all good luck.
Examinations
As London could not offer us any of the dates that I asked for during this term, I decided that these would be moved to Sunday 15 September. I hope it meets with everyone’s approval, but I felt it could not go on with ‘maybe this day, maybe that’, to be decided at the last moment.
Dates for next term
Autumn term 2019: Monday 2 September to Saturday 7 December (13 weeks)
Half-term: Sunday 27 October to Saturday 2 November
Term will finish early because of all the school activities which take place at the end of term. Although the term is 13 weeks long, fees will only be charged for 12 weeks, as in the week of the show classes will be called as required.
We also hope to have some workshops the following week taken by our ex-students who are now working on the professional stage.
5 Six 7 8: our Display at the Weymouth Pavilion
There will be two shows on 30 November – at 2:30pm and 7pm. We’ll be holding dress rehearsals on the Tuesday and Wednesday before the show. Please check the 5 Six 7 8 webpage and the noticeboard at the studio for confirmation of dates and times.
Festival dances
Please remember to book in if you need a festival dance to be choreographed, or need to have a run-through to keep it polished, although new dances will take precedence.
Mid-Somerset Festival: 27-29 September
The adjudicator is Miss Linda Young.
Weymouth Dance Festival: 26-31 October
The adjudicator is Miss Jill Redford.
May I respectfully remind parents with students taking more than one subject that the discount is offered only on those fees paid in the first week of term (i.e. by 7 September).
Have a good holiday and come back ready for some hard work.
Regards
June Hornby
